Basement Progress

Since we purchased our house we have lived in our basement. We have the best/coolest tenants renting our upstairs currently. It's been on awesome situation. The bathroom was the #1 downfall to living downstairs, which if you view the previous post you will see was resolved. The 'great room' being downfall #2.  The former owners had 'laid' down carpet (really it was just thrown down, no tack strip or padding) and after cleaning it and getting up close and personal with it Jordan and I decided it needed to go. So within the first month of owning our home we purchased new flooring to go throughout the kitchen, dining and living room. However for the past 4 months a quarter of our basement has looked like the above picture. I had a rug laid down and a functional set up, but it's been bleak and yucky up until this break between semesters when Jord had enough time to get to work on it. Fastforward to now and we have a mostly finished great room! Yay! 

It took some hard work getting there, (mostly Jordan's hard work), but we got it done within a week! I was amazed.

Shout out to my dad and brother AJ for spending a Saturday morning helping Jord install flooring. 

New paint & new floors = a new room!  Safari Beige from Valspar in matte is on the ceiling and my favorite white, Bistro White from Valspar on the walls to conceal the paneling and cinder brick a bit better. 

Yes, that light is still hanging there. I'm having the hardest time finding lighting I like and isn't going to cost an arm and a leg. 

These are all terrible pictures, but you get the idea. Pictures need to be hung, baseboards amd molding need to be installed and dishes need to be put in the kitchen- but for now, we're done. School is back in and the kitchen is up next. 

The current project is a pantry! Who knew pantries could be so exciting? 

Built in shelves around the corner. My husband is the best. Also, the gray tile up against the wall will be installed in the bathroom, laundry and entry/where you can see the laminate wood flooring ends.

Big plans, guys, big plans.
